What Am I?

“The Theology of Gender”

Definitions:

“Sex”—- Males and Females are distinguished from each other based on _________________________________.

“Gender Roles” are the social and cultural aspects of being male or female. “Roles” are largely built on ______________________________________________.

“Gender Identity” is the psychological aspects associated with being male or female. “Identity” is a person’s _________________________ of self as male, female, both or neither.

Bottom Line— The transgender community’s main argument is that ________________________________ are two different things. So “sex” for the transgender becomes the ______________    we take as opposed to the nature of our being. We can disregard the biology or change it as we feel fit.

What Does the Bible Say.                                              1. Genesis 1:26-28, “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’  So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’”

Four Truths a) We were __________________; b) In the _____________________ c) As ____________________; d) To Procreate.

2. Deuteronomy 22:5, “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.”

3. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, ”Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

4. Romans 1:26-27, “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.  In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.”

5. 1Corinthians 6:18-19, Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.  Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.”
