Christmas: Through the Eyes of…  
   “Joseph and Mary” 

Luke 1:26-27, In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.”

1. What do we know about Mary?

       a. She was a _____________________________.                                                                  

       b. She was engaged to be married; a 3 – stage event:                                                                         

           You were ___________________________.

           You were ___________________________.                            

       c.  She was young and Joseph was _______________.           

             So, by the time Jesus was an adult, she was probably a

2. What do we know about Joseph?

3. Defining Moments for Joseph and Mary.                                               

      a. The Greeks had 2 words for “time”…                                             

           “Chronos” for chronology. This referred to                            

                 __________________________________.                                                   

           “Kairos” for time filled with ____________________.

                                 Ephesians 5:15-16                                                                     

      b.  Mary’s defining moment was her reply…                                  

            Luke 1:38, “’I am the Lord’s servant,’ Mary answered.                   

           May Your word to me be fulfilled. Then the angel left her.”

      c.  Joseph’s defining moment… after a visit from an angel,

Luke 2:4-6,  ”So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
