“About Your Faith”                                                                Don’t Check Your Faith at the Door

  1. If Christianity is __________, it should stand up under any amount of intellectual scrutiny.

Isaiah 1:18 “’Come now, let us reason together,’ says the Lord.”…

Deuteronomy 6:4-5, ”Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

Mark 12:28-30, ”One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked Him, ‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’ 29 ’The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”’”

  1. There ______________ an anti-intellectual bone in authentic Christian faith.
  2. If there is a God, then all _________________ is God’s ____________, wherever it’s found.

John 14:5-7,9, ”Thomas said to Him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ 6 Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 If you really know Me, you will know My Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him. 9 …Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father….’”

John 20:24-28, ”Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 I will not believe.’ 26 A week later His disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ 27 Then He said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.’  28 Thomas said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’”
