Matthew 28:18-20, ”Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”

2 Kings 5:13-14, ”But his servants came near and said to him, ‘My father, it is a great word the prophet has spoken to you; will you not do it? Matthew 28:19-20, ”Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

21 but we had hoped that He was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find His body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said He was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.’”

Luke 18:34, ”The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what He was talking about.”
Three Radical Ideas
(A) The real problem of our world is our need to be __________ ____________________from all the things we’ve done that separates us from God.
(B) The real nature of the Messiah… they didn’t see how a _____________________________ would be of any value.
Luke 24:25-27, ”He said to them, ‘How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter His glory?’ 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning Himself.”
See also Isaiah 53:1-12
Luke 24:28-34, ”As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if He were going farther. 29 But they urged Him strongly, ‘Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.’ So He went in to stay with them.30 When He was at the table with them, He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him, and He disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?’ 33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, ‘It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.’
(C) The real ending of Friday… was on __________________.

Holy Saturday “His Final Week But Our New Beginning”
What Happens When You Die? Three Choices…
- This life is __________________________; or,
- You are _________________________; or,
- The Christian faith is right; it contends that when we die, we remain ___________ and, in a non-physical sense, _________.
See Ecclesiastes 12:7
1 Peter 3:18-20, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. 19 After being made alive, He went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— 20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water…”
- Who were the spirits? The consensus is Peter was not talking about _____________________, but ___________________.
2 Peter 2:4, ”For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment.”
Jude 1:6, ”And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these He has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.”
- “Tartarus”: a Greek term used to describe the place where the ______________________________ were sent to be punished.
- What did Jesus “preach to them?” The Greek word used simply means that Jesus made an ______________________.
So, What Happens When We Die?

It’s Here… Good Friday “His Final Week But Our New Beginning”
See John 11:45-50,53; Mark 14:53,55-57,59-65
and John 19:1-16.
Mark 15:16-20 The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. 17 They put a purple robe on Him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on Him. 18 And they began to call out to Him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” 19 Again and again they struck Him on the head with a staff and spit on Him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to Him. 20 And when they had mocked Him, they took off the purple robe and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him out to crucify Him.
Mark 15:25-33,37 25 It was nine in the morning when they crucified Him. 26 The written notice of the charge against Him read: the king of the jews.27 They crucified two rebels with Him, one on his right and one on his left. [28] 29 Those who passed by hurled insults at Him, shaking their heads and saying, “So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30 come down from the cross and save Yourself!” 31 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked Him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but He can’t save Himself! 32 Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with Him also heaped insults on Him.33 At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. 37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed His last.

Romans 5:7-8 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Thursday Night but Friday’s Coming “His Final Week But Our New Beginning”
Mark 14:12-16, ”On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked Him, ‘Where do You want us to go and make preparations for You to eat the Passover?’13 So He sent two of His disciples, telling them, ‘Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, “The Teacher asks: Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” 15 He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.’16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.”
John 13:4-5, “So He got up from the meal, took off His outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around His waist. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.”
John 13:12-15, “ When He had finished washing their feet, He put on His clothes and returned to His place. ‘Do you understand what I have done for you?’ He asked them. 13 ’You call Me “Teacher” and “Lord,” and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
See John 13:21-30

Stay here and keep watch with Me.’39 Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.’”

Your Faith and Science “God on the Loose”
- Here’s the heart of the big idea: “If there is a God, then all ________________ is God’s _________________.
- “Reductive” naturalism is the value which states that all that _____________________ within nature is that which can be empirically verified.
- f it cannot be examined in a tangible, scientific manner, it is not simply unknowable; it is _________________________,
Psalm 19:1-2, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.”
Psalm 19:7-8, “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.”
Deuteronomy 6:4-5, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Mark 12:28-30, “One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked Him, ‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’ 29 ’The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”’”
- If there is a God and you would admit to the possibility of a God — then ________________________ aren’t an issue
