Up There Is Coming Down Here

Opening Question: What is the gospel that Jesus came to preach?

Mark 1:14-15   After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 “The time has come,” He said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Luke 8:1; 9:1-2, “After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God…. When Jesus had called the Twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.”                                                         Acts 1:3; 28:31,” After His suffering, He presented Himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God…. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!”

  1. What was the gospel of Jesus? ______________________

Matthew 6:32-33,” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

  1. What does “righteousness” mean? It is what makes someone ________________________ from the inside.
  2. Your kingdom is where you are _________________. The technical language for this is: Your kingdom is the __________ of your effective will — it’s where you get to ________________.

Genesis 1:26, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’”

See Matthew 13:44 and Romans 14:17

Matthew 6:9-10, “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’”
