Our History

Who we are

We are a fellowship of Christians committed by faith to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We confess Him alone as the Sovereign Head of the Church.

We are a mid-size, non-denominational Christian church with about 200 members. We were founded on January 27, 1946 by a group of believers who wanted a place to worship in their community. Initially meeting in homes and the town hall, we found a permanent home in August 1949 upon the completion of our own building at the corner of Schneider and Lincoln Streets in Highland, Indiana. We have expanded our building several times, but continue to worship in the same location.

Our current church family represents a large range of ages, from newborn to elderly. We also represent a variety of family situations, including single, single parents, married couples, families with young children, families with older children, and widows/widowers. We are a close-knit family, but are always excited about welcoming new people to our family. Our pastor is Randy Harrison.

Our only authoritative guide in matters of faith, doctrine, and practice is the Holy Bible, which we accept as the Word of God. Only what the Bible requires for salvation do we teach as essential for membership in the Church. What makes one a Christian also makes one a member of the Body of Christ.

We have no denominational ties with any organization or group, local, state or national. We are a free people in Christ, responsibly governing our own affairs in obedience to the Scriptures. We do have fellowship with all who confess Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God, and are happy to acknowledge them as brethren in the Lord.

As the Scriptures teach that there is “one Lord, one faith, one baptism,” so we teach and practice. We invite all who share this simple faith in Jesus to join hands with us in His splendid service.

We encourage you to explore more about our church family and invite you to join us in God’s work.
